Fixture schedule
List every toilet, lavatory, tub, shower, valve, drain, bidet, and accessory with its model or allowance.
Bathroom plumbing is priced by fixture scope, rough-in location, wall and floor access, drain and vent changes, water piping, permit stages, fixture selection, and coordination with the other trades.
Where the money goes
The part is only one piece of the price. A good plumber can walk you through the diagnosis, materials, labor, access, testing, cleanup, and warranty without hiding behind a monthly payment.
01
List every toilet, lavatory, tub, shower, valve, drain, bidet, and accessory with its model or allowance.
02
Same-location replacements differ from moving drains, vents, water lines, walls, or slab piping.
03
Demolition prep, rough-in, test, inspection, fixture setting, trim, and return visits should be counted.
04
Tile, waterproofing, framing, drywall, cabinets, glass, electrical, and general contracting are separate unless named.
Before you trust the total
A fair plumber should be able to tell you what failed, what they plan to do, what is included, and what could change the price. If two quotes describe different work, the cheaper number proves nothing.
01
Compare demolition prep, caps, rough-in, pressure and drain testing, inspections, fixture-setting return trip, trim, connections, and exclusions for tile, drywall, cabinets, electrical, and general contracting.
02
Moving a toilet, opening a slab, adding a shower, changing drain or vent routes, building a basement bath, repiping open walls, or using specialty fixtures creates a different project.
03
Same-location fixture replacement is not comparable to a rough-in relocation. Get a fixture-by-fixture scope showing what changes behind the wall and which trade owns each opening and finish repair.
Make them spell it out
One plumber may include work that another leaves out. Check these lines before deciding one quote is cheaper.

These do not automatically make a contractor crooked. They do mean you should slow the conversation down, ask for proof, and refuse to sign just because the price “expires today.”
The room name does not define how many connections, moves, valves, or return trips are included.
Separate phases make allowances, change orders, and trade readiness easier to understand.
Confirm which contractor owns the shower pan, membrane, flood test, drain connection, tile, and warranty.
Valve bodies, drains, mounting systems, flow demand, and rough dimensions can change the work.

Built by Tyler, a Utah master plumber
I have watched the sales-driven plumbing playbook turn a simple repair into a same-day replacement pitch: scare the homeowner, bury the details in financing, and make the price expire before the truck leaves. I built these guides to slow that conversation down and show you what I would check before spending the money.

Moving a toilet, opening a slab, adding a shower, changing drain or vent routes, building a basement bath, repiping open walls, or using specialty fixtures creates a different project.

A measured layout, fixture list or allowances, known wall and floor changes, access plan, and the general contractor’s schedule produce a much cleaner quote.
The toilet needs a large drain with correct slope and venting. Moving it can require structural planning, floor opening, or slab work.
Responsibilities vary. The quote must name who provides the drain, pan or membrane, test, tile transition, and warranty.
Only when the proposal identifies the models or allowances. Compare supplied fixtures, owner-supplied products, freight, missing parts, returns, and warranty handling.
