1. Match the actual job
Choose the service that describes the work, not the symptom alone. The guides separate repairs, replacements, diagnostics, maintenance, and larger projects so a low price for one is not compared with a complete price for another.
Read the quote anatomy
Check the normal parts of the job, included work, conditions that change scope, and the questions a complete proposal should answer.
Use the related guides
If the diagnosis points to a different job, such as repair versus replacement, open both guides before comparing totals.

2. Run the free price check
Answer a few questions about the job and enter the total. You see the comparison before any optional request for Mountain Man Plumbing to contact you.
Answer what you can see
The checker asks about the equipment, problem, number of items, and access. You do not need to know an internal part number or plumbing code.

3. Let a master plumber review the real job
When the quick checker cannot identify the job, or when you want a firm alternative, it takes you directly to the upload screen.
Upload the written quote
A PDF or clear photos help the reviewer compare the stated equipment, quantities, exclusions, and warranty.
Add project photos or a short video
Show the equipment, connections, work area, access route, and a slow walkthrough of anything difficult to capture in one photo.
Opt in to text
The reviewing plumber may ask for a missing measurement or detail, then sends a final quote when the scope is ready.

4. If the job changes, check the price again
A price comparison only works while the job stays the same. A failed shutoff, hidden damage, different model, deeper pipe, or added wall repair can turn it into a different project.
Keep the documents together
Save the original quote, photos, selected answers, reviewer questions, and final quote so the comparison does not drift.
Treat changes as new information
A failed shutoff, hidden corrosion, different fixture, deeper excavation, or added restoration can create a legitimately different price.
Compare final warranty and responsibility
The winning number should still identify who obtains permits, performs tests, cleans up, handles callbacks, and owns excluded work.
Return to the service guide
If the work changes, go back to the service guide before approving an added charge or a bigger replacement.
